Abstract Warm Toned Imagesabstract-paintings-consisting-of-gold-abstract-art.jpg_w580_h508.jpg abstract-art-artist-1.jpg

For this project, you are going to create a painting on the computer using Photoshop and/or Illustrator. Tools such as the pen tool and liquify might be excellent ways of putting down color and manipulating it. You are going to play with composition, warm color, value, pattern, and texture using Photoshop. Once you have chosen one composition that you like, you are then going to draw it out using colored pencil on a 5x5 inch piece, then paint it using acrylic on a 5x5 inch piece of wood.

Requirements:

1. Three artists that paint abstract art for inspiration.
2. Mini sketches in your sketchbook showing how you have played with composition.
3. Three versions made on the computer, showing how you have changed the color of the composition, incorporated different patterns and textures, and perhaps images.
4. One finished painting on wood and one with colored pencil.

Process:

Find three abstract painters work for inspiration and meet with the group to discuss abstract art. Then off to independent study, playing around with your own creation. Draw in your sketchbook some ideas, then take them to the computer. Create three versions on the computer, playing with composition, color choice, size, movement, balance, and form. Meet with the group to discuss the three images created on the computer and decide which one is the best or if you still need to modify it to complete it. Once the final design has been chosen, you can begin drawing and then painting. Think about the grid method to layout the work, pencil it in first, then begin painting using acrylic.
